Got to preen..

The start of yet another zoo series. This time around I got to play with a new toy which has since left my arsenal of gears as well. The macaws welcomed us into the zoo so naturally we need a shot of them :) Taken with Nikon D90 and 70-300mm VR.

@Roman: Overcast sky and I was shooting at f8 which is probably the sweet spot for the lens.

There really is something special about birds and their colours - you've capture this really well - it's crisp and clear. Why did you get rid of the lens?

Interesting ISO/speed/aperture choices but I cannot fault the result. You are free of the usual scourge of these shots of a ghost of the mesh thru which you might have had to focus, too. Looking forward to the series.
